World Values Day 2019
The fourth annual World Values Day was held on 17th October 2019. The breadth and depth of World Values Day 2019 made it possibly the best one yet, even though its social media campaign was this year somewhat affected by the announcement of the Brexit deal. Nevertheless it still reached the amazing figure of around 30 million people around the world.
On World Values Day, many exciting events and activities sprang up in dozens of different countries. These involved all kinds of groups and organisations from major international companies like Volvo and Bosch, to small local businesses, hospitals (including many NHS Trusts), social care groups, clubs and societies, as well as a whole host of individual ‘values activists’. Many schools, universities and other educational institutions around the world also took part.
The Human Values Foundation, together with a few other organisations and individuals including the UK Values Alliance, have been involved in World Values Day from the start, and we feel proud to have contributed to its extraordinary growth over the last four years.
We have been joined as supporters by a growing number of other organisations (currently 111 of them) from around the world. These include the RSA (the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce), the international banking network Global Alliance for Banking on Values, the Swedish Values Academy, Action for Happiness, Chartered Institute for Personnel Development (CIPD), Co-operatives UK, PWC, and a range of organisations and community-based groups across the UK and other countries. On the day itself, these groups and organisations are joined by many hundreds of thousands of engaged individuals across the UK and around the world.
